Paul Woolley

Paul Woolley has a background in theology and politics and is a regular conference and media commentator. In addition to working as a Parliamentary Researcher and directing a political unit, he has had extensive public affairs experience in the charity sector. Paul’s current research interests include social cohesion in a pluralist society and the role of government. Paul is engaged in post-graduate study at the University of St Andrews. He is married to Ruth and lives in Central London.
Nick Spencer

Nick Spencer worked as a researcher and consultant for Research International, The Henley Centre, the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity and the Jubilee Centre before joining Theos. The author of the first and fourth Theos reports, he has also written a number of books including Asylum and Immigration: A Christian Perspective on a Polarised Debate and Chrsitianity, Climate Change and Sustainable Living.
Paul Bickley

Since studying Political Science at the University of York, Paul has spent five years working as a Researcher, in Parliament and in public affairs. The author of the second Theos report, Paul’s research interests include House of Lords reform and citizenship. He is currently undertaking part-time post-graduate study at the University of St Andrews.
Jennie Pollock

After completing her B.Ed degree at Birmingham
University, Jennie taught primary school children in a non-profit
organisation for two years, where she discovered an aptitude for administration
and event planning. She took on an admin role in the same
organisation, working both in the UK and the USA before joining Theos in
September 2007. Jennie writes occasional articles for the schools resource Projecting Politics.
Consultant researchers
Stephen Backhouse
Stephen Backhouse writes in the areas of politics, public policy and religion. He has worked and researched at McGill University in Montreal, and at the University of Oxford, where he is now based. His current project involves providing a theological assessment of religious nationalism.
Jonathan Chaplin
Jonathan Chaplin is the first Director of the Kirby Laing Institute for Christian Ethics. He took up the position in September 2006. He is a specialist in Christian political thought, and has edited or co-edited three books and many articles in this field, intended both for academic and for wider audiences.
Andrew Partington
Andrew Partington is based at Trinity
Union Church, an international church in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. His PhD
thesis explored the contribution of bishops to the House of Lords
during the Thatcher years. He is married to Michaela and they have two
children, Daniel and Jemimah.
