Ben Ryan is quoted in a Spanish publication, discussing the Irish referendum.

“But, aside from the scandals, Ireland has experienced a change in terms of religiosity… the ordination numbers of priests have fallen sharply and the priests are much older. In a Church that depends so much on its clergy, it fuels a perfect storm of loss of influence. In abortion, two irreconcilable positions are faced. And the Church has not succeeded in getting the debate to take place on its terms”
